Devotions for the Young

Written by Melissa Ridgway to the children and young adults

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”
Proverbs 18:10 KJV

Encouragement for the young, when life gets hard and things are not going right, remember this precious truth! You are safe in Christ, at His throne of grace. You are exhorted and given a promise to run to Christ and cry out to Him when things do not go your way! Run to Christ when you feel anger rising up! Run to Christ when the enemy falsely accuses you! Run to Christ when you are sick! Run to Christ when you want understanding of situations. Run to Christ for grace and strength in a trial! Run to Christ for a healthy countenance and joy! Run to Christ when people talk bad about you and do not even know why! Run to Christ to grow and mature! Run to Christ for protection! Run to Christ for companionship! Run to Christ for a boyfriend or girlfriend! Run to Christ for the desire to read His Word! Run to Christ to put your self-pity down! Run to Christ for good manners and compassion! Run to Christ for living hope! When you are impatient and want an answer now, run to Christ! When you just want comfort and love, run to Christ! When you feel lonely, run to Christ! Run to Christ to silence the enemies all around! Run to Christ for faith to walk and do things in this life on your own! Run to Christ to pour out your whole heart and all your cares unto Him! Christ will hear and not turn you away! If you put anything or anyone else before Him, you are making an idol of it, and the Lord will surely remove it! Run to Christ! He is your strong tower and your safety! Christ cares about every single situation you are in! I know you may know this, but sometimes it is good to be reminded of this truth! Life is hard, adult life is hard, college life is hard but you have hope! This is something the world does not have in their hard times, and believe me, they do have hard times, but they also have the judgement of God with no remedy!❤️🙏🏻

“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
Psalms 37:5 KJV

Don’t be faithless but believe the Lord has His best interest for you! Tell Him all your cares knowing He is listening to you! Don’t do anything without praying and asking the Lord for His guidance! If you lack faith to do something, ask for faith! If you lack love, ask for love. If you need your flesh to be silenced, ask the Lord to put it down. If you lack the understanding why people will let you down so many times, ask the Lord for understanding. He alone knows what we really need.

Fret not thyself because of evildoers,
neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,
and wither as the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good;
so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Delight thyself also in the Lord;
and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the Lord;
trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Psalm 37:1-5
Need I say anything at all! The Holy Word of God says it all!❤️❤️❤️

“Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things.”
Joel 2:21 KJV

Do you believe that God can do great things and has done great things? Fear or being afraid of things is bondage! The Lord can break that bondage. He alone can release you from it, because it brings torment. Are you afraid of rejection, of the unknown, of bad news, of doing something you know you should do but fear keeps you from it? May the Lord go before you and give you the faith to walk in the unknown and fearful path! You will be so much happier when you are released from this fear. The Lord will do great things. Just wait and see! He is your Help!💕

“….but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13-14 KJV

We all have things in our lives that we would like to have never ever happened, but if we dwell on the past and do not look at the spiritual blessings we have in Christ, we will be miserable creatures. If we dwell on what others have done to us, we are not remembering what sinful creatures we are and how Christ shed His blood for us. If we dwell on our past sins, then we will not experience the comfort of the Holy Spirit! If we dwell on our weakness, then we will not see the strength we have in Christ! If we continue to seek after the help of others, we will not see our Help is in the Lord! If we waller around in our self pity, we are not seeing what we have in Christ! If we blame others, we are not seeing ourselves for who we are in Christ! This verse says a lot! Press forward to the joy and peace and strength and hope in Christ! Do not fall backwards to worry, anger, fear, depression, and hopelessness. We are not hopeless creatures! We have the Lord!!🙏🏻❤️😊
